Dahlia cuttings or green plants are the cheapest way of increasing your collection. They grow into stronger, better flowering plants in one summer. Go on, give it a try you will also be surprised by the size of the tubers produced from a little green shoot by the autumn. Besides that, it's fun as well!

Grow your own delicious, sweet and juicy strawberries. They will be full of flavour and healthy goodness. One begonia corm died during the winter leaving me with two but I wanted three. The corms were large enough to cut in half so I decided to split one of the them. This video shows how successful or not I was.

As the Autumn days begin to shorten the weather becomes wet and windy frustrating our hopes of getting out into the garden. Cheer yourself up by looking back on the summer just ended and at the same time make plans for new plantings or moving existing plants during the dormant season. I have set my garden up to attract bees, butterflies, moths and any other beneficial insects that care to visit. Wasps are also welcome as well.

Hedgerows are just as important as trees in the landscape. They can store thousands of litres of water contributing to flood prevention and their roots prevents soil erosion. Mixed native hedges can help to offer protection as well as supporting all forms of flora and fauna.
